Students investigated indicators and pH, created their own red cabbage indicator, explored reactions between acids and metals, bases and carbonates, and designed investigations to examine variables such as concentration and pH. They also challenged common misconceptions around <strong>strong versus weak<\/strong> and <strong>concentrated versus dilute<\/strong> substances, using observations, particle explanations and conductivity evidence to develop more scientifically supported conclusions.<\/p>\n<p>This week, students applied their learning to a real-world environmental issue through <strong>acid rain research and presentations<\/strong>. Working collaboratively, they investigated its causes, effects and possible solutions, using scientific evidence to explain how human activity can influence the environment. Next week, students will revisit and connect the key concepts from the unit as they prepare for their <strong>Criterion A summative assessment on 13 October<\/strong>.
