Our students began by <\/span><b>observing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> how different paper planes performed and used their observations to develop a <\/span><b>scientific question<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> that could be investigated. They then formulated a <\/span><b>hypothesis<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, predicting what they thought would happen and explaining their reasoning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Working collaboratively, students designed and constructed their own paper planes and planned the steps they would follow to carry out a fair investigation. They learned to identify their: <\/span><b>Independent variable<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><b>Dependent variable<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><b>Controlled variables<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Students then tested their planes and <\/span><b>recorded their results<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.
