We held a class vote to choose our new class name! After an exciting vote between The Lion Kingdom, The Cats, and The Butterflies,<\/strong> the winning name was\u2026 \ud83e\udd41 The Cats<\/strong>!<\/span><\/p>\n What a wonderful second week it has been in Grade 2! The Cats have continued settling into our routines and are already showing so much curiosity, kindness, and enthusiasm for learning. It has been lovely to see them getting to know one another and becoming more confident in our classroom.<\/span><\/p>\n This week, we:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n It has been wonderful watching The Cats begin to grow into a caring, supportive, and curious classroom community.<\/span><\/p>\n\n
Started our Unit of Inquiry, Who We Are<\/i>. We began thinking about what makes each of us unique and how our actions and choices can affect the people around us.<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
In Writing, we started working with short decodable passages to strengthen our phonics skills and build confidence with reading and writing. Students practised sounding out words, reading sentences carefully, and thinking about what they had read before responding to it.<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
In Maths, we explored patterns, problem-solving and ordering numbers. We also revisited bar graphs and practised reading and interpreting data.<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
Had our first Swimming lesson of Grade 2!\u00a0 The Cats did a fantastic job getting ready, following instructions, and showing confidence in the pool. We are looking forward to developing our swimming skills throughout the year!<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
Continued building our classroom community through team-building activities, games, and conversations about our essential agreements and how we can work together as a team.<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
