The school year has begun with a bang!! The students collaborated on the first day of school and created the classroom\u2019s Essential Agreements.<\/span><\/p>\n

  3. Keep your hands and feet to yourself<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Be Caring<\/span><\/li>\n

    My two rules for my classroom are very important.<\/span><\/p>\n

    2. Support each other<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      We have started phonics and grammar in the classroom. I am currently using the \u2018Fundations\u2019 programme, if you would like to research it. In Grammar our focus is nouns, and you are welcome to talk about nouns in your home language. A noun is a person, place, or thing. The more we talk to the students about what they are doing in the classroom makes a huge impact on the students understanding. Please support them in their learning journey.<\/span><\/p>\n

      In math the students were introduced to the Number of the Day. The first activity students will complete in math class is the number of the day. They will break it into hundreds, tens and ones. They will draw a model of the number. They will mark if the number is odd or even. And they will write the word in written form. This activity will strengthen your child\u2019s understanding of place value. Students also used base ten blocks to show numbers up to 500. We ended the week with a fun addition activity. Next week we will begin focusing on patterns, place value, and data handling. Discuss these math topics with your child.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      Who We Are will be the first Transdisciplinary Theme the students will investigate. I have attached the UOI Flyer in the link below. I will also share the UOI Unit\u00a0 Flyer on SeeSaw. Please take some time to look at it. This unit’s presentation will be a Shoebox Autobiography. I will share the directions on SeeSaw Thursday, September 3rd.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Homework<\/b> = Reading Journals have been given to each student. Please send them back completed on Thursday. I will return the journal on Sunday.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Communication <\/b>= Please message me through SeeSaw Messages. This is the quickest form of communication.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      Lunch Catering = <\/span>\u00a0Bank Muscat, Sohar Branch, Acc No. 0343050148880018.<\/b> When making the payment, please put in the remarks the name of your child and grade.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Swimming<\/b> = Mondays, send students to school with swimsuit, goggles, towel, pool shoes, and a bag to carry all of their items in.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      Library<\/b> = Sundays, students will go home with their books in a zipper bag. Please return the zipper bag every Sunday.<\/span><\/p>\n
