Dear Grade 5 Families,<\/p>\n

We have had a lovely first week together in Grade 5. Over the past few days, we have taken time to get to know one another through games, activities and team-building challenges, while also beginning to establish the expectations and routines that will help us have a successful year together. Students have created artwork all about themselves, explored the idea of a growth mindset, and discussed the IB Learner Profiles. Most importantly, we have started thinking about how these ideas will help shape our class Essential Agreements for the year ahead. It has been wonderful getting to know the students and seeing their personalities begin to emerge, and we are really looking forward to the year ahead with them!<\/p>\n

Next week, we will begin exploring our first Unit of Inquiry, with a unit flyer attached here<\/a>. Our learning will focus on understanding and managing emotions \u2014 beginning with recognising how we and others may really be feeling, before exploring strategies we can use to manage those emotions effectively. We will also start our first Maths focus on place value, as well as exploring how the writing process will work in Grade 5.<\/p>\n

Meet the Teacher Night will also take place on Tuesday, 1st September, from 5:00\u20136:30 pm<\/strong>. There will be two sessions during the evening, providing an opportunity to say hello and hear a little more about Grade 5 and some of the learning that will take place throughout the year. We hope to see many of you there.<\/p>\n

We hope you and your families enjoy the long weekend, and we look forward to welcoming the students back next week and seeing some of you very soon.<\/p>\n
