Class 1A has done a wonderful job settling in, making new friends, and learning the ropes of our classroom. Here is a look at what we got up to:<br \/><br \/><strong>Building Our Community<\/strong>: We spent time getting to know each other through interactive games and icebreaker activities. We also collaborated as a team to create our Essential Agreement, setting positive expectations for our year together.<br \/><br \/><strong>Mastering Routines<\/strong>: The students practiced our daily classroom routines and focused on making smooth, quick transitions between lessons and activities.<br \/><br \/><strong>Expressive Communication<\/strong>: We introduced non-verbal signals using basic American Sign Language (ASL) for everyday classroom needs\u2014such as &#8220;bathroom,&#8221; &#8220;water,&#8221; &#8220;help,&#8221; and &#8220;stop.&#8221; Ask your child to demonstrate these signs for you at home!<br \/><br \/><strong>Read-Alouds &amp; Storytime<\/strong>: We enjoyed several engaging books this week, including the crowd-favorite The Pigeon Has to Go to School! by Mo Willems.<br \/><br \/><strong>Emotional Literacy<\/strong>: We introduced the Zones of Regulation framework to help students identify, label, and manage their feelings throughout the school day.<br \/><br \/><strong>Special Events<\/strong>: The class attended their first Library session to check out books and came together with the rest of the school for our weekly assembly.<br \/><br \/>Thank you for your support in making this first week such a success!<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2026\/08\/719870B0-FB2D-458A-ADEE-B890723D8BA3-1-scaled.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-331851 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2026\/08\/719870B0-FB2D-458A-ADEE-B890723D8BA3-1-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/300;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What a fantastic first week of school!
