The last concert of the year was wonderful. The students practiced throughout the week and I believe they did a great job. This is their last concert as the oldest students of the group. I am so proud of their hard work.<\/span><\/p>\n

The students wrapped up their Unit of Inquiry, \u2018How The World Works\u2019. They completed a procedural writing text on how to build their home project. The components of the text were title, steps, conclusion and drawing a picture of their project. Students completed a reflection where they were asked to give three examples of how light and sound are used. Then they were asked why light and sound are important to them. Next week we will revisit the Unit of Inquiry, ‘Who We Are’. They will reflect on their school year by completing End of the School Year Memory Books.<\/span><\/p>\n

The students completed their last spelling test of the school year, which happened to be the most difficult one. The months of the year are no easy task, but be reminded that this is a school standard. Grade 2 should know the days of the week and the months of the year, as well as being able to spell them. I am proud of their efforts. Next week in writing, the focus will be on personal experiences and information. As stated above, they will be completing an End of the School Year Memory Book. They will be completing these using complete sentences.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In math this week we have been reviewing information from the school year while simultaneously completing beautiful tessellation art. Next week we will continue reviewing math standards from the school year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Next Wednesday we will have our Grade 2 End of the Year Pool Party. We will enjoy the pool for two hours of the day and the students can enjoy the cool water. Afterwards we will have a celebration where students will eat, play games, and watch a movie. I will send food requirements next week. We are not a nut free school, but any food containing nuts must be shared with the teacher. If sending desserts please send individually packed or items such as cookies, donuts or cupcakes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
