I am very grateful to them both. I sent through my plans, and they followed through wonderfully with the students and did a fantastic job with the kids.

For our Unit of Inquiry, How the World Works, we continued exploring sound and light. We explored shadows and looked further into transparent, translucent and opaque.

In English, the students worked hard on reading comprehension throughout the week. They read short stories and answered both closed and open-ended questions. We are encouraging the students not only to rely on the text itself, but also to use their own prior knowledge, experiences, predictions, and inferencing skills to deepen their understanding.

Next week our spelling words will focus on the months of the year. These are quite big words for Grade 2, so please continue encouraging your child to practice at home. Your support truly makes a big difference.

We will also continue revising our phonics concepts, including:

Prefixes and suffixes

Silent e

Closed syllables

Students will also revisit open syllables and explore the concept more closely. An open syllable has one long vowel sound and ends with the vowel itself.

In Maths, we completed our unit on 3D shapes. Students focused on six three-dimensional shapes and explored their faces, vertices, and edges. They also investigated whether shapes could roll, stack, or slide, and practiced explaining these attributes using the correct mathematical vocabulary.

Please ask your child:
“What makes a cube a cube?”

They should be able to explain the number of faces, edges, and vertices.

Next week we will begin learning about symmetry and tessellating patterns. This is always a fun and creative week in Maths because it includes lots of colouring, drawing, and pattern exploration. Students will also learn the vocabulary:

Rotation

Reflection

Translation

A tessellation pattern is a repeating pattern of shapes that fit together perfectly without gaps or overlaps.

IMPORTANT DATES

June 2nd = Grade 6 Graduation
June 3rd = Secondary Summer Concert
June 4th = KG1–Grade 2 Primary Summer Concert
June 9th = Coffee Morning
June 11th = Grade 3–6 Primary Summer Concert
June 17th = Last Day of School / Reports Issued

Photos this week

Have a wonderful weekend 🌷

Ms Cami

Dear Robloxian Parents 🤍 Firstly, I would just like to say a very big thank you to Ms. Cora and Ms. Sylvia for kindly covering my class for most of the week while I was away sick.
