Our youngest performers are diligently memorizing lyrics<\/b> and refining their movements. This week was all about “fine-tuning”\u2014learning that a great performance comes from practicing the small details until they shine.<\/p>\n Learner Profile: Knowledgeable<\/b> \u2013 Recalling lyrics and melodic patterns with increasing confidence.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n ATL Skills: Self-Management (Organization)<\/b> \u2013 Learning to follow a rehearsal schedule and being ready to perform on cue.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Following our look at how communities use music, Grades 1 and 2 are now putting those theories into practice. They are polishing their ensemble pieces, focusing on how their individual voices contribute to a collective harmony.<\/p>\n Strand:<\/b> Music in Society.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Learner Profile: Reflective<\/b> \u2013 Listening back to their rehearsals and identifying areas where they can improve their pitch or timing.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n ATL Skills: Communication<\/b> \u2013 Interpreting non-verbal cues from the conductor and their peers during practice.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n With their musical “stories” now composed, Grades 3 and 4 have joined the high-gear concert preparations<\/b>. They are learning that to move an audience<\/b>, every note must be played with intention. This week, they focused on the transition from the classroom to the stage, ensuring their storytelling remains clear and impactful under the lights.<\/p>\n Learner Profile: Thinkers<\/b> \u2013 Making intentional choices about dynamics (volume) to better convey the “message” of their songs.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n ATL Skills: Research (Media Literacy)<\/b> \u2013 Using digital recordings of their practice sessions to analyze and adjust their performance technique.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n This week, our upper elementary students truly demonstrated what it means to be part of a professional production.<\/p>\n Grade 5: The Jewel of Muscat<\/b> A major highlight has been the Grade 5 preparation for their performance of The Jewel of Muscat<\/i>. Demonstrating incredible commitment, students have been giving up their lunchtimes<\/b> to ensure every aspect of the show is perfect. This isn’t just about singing; students have taken on diverse roles as performers, light operators, and stage crew<\/b>, proving that a musical production is a massive collaborative machine.<\/p>\n Grade 6: The Graduation Song<\/b> Our Grade 6 students have shifted their focus toward a significant milestone: their Graduation Song<\/b>. They are fine-tuning this piece not just as a musical exercise, but as a reflection of their journey at ABIS, balancing the technical demands of the song with the emotional weight of the occasion.<\/p>\n Learner Profile: Balanced<\/b> \u2013 Managing their academic responsibilities alongside the extra time dedicated to rehearsals and technical roles.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n ATL Skills: Social (Collaboration)<\/b> \u2013 Working across different “departments” (lighting, crew, and stage) to ensure a seamless performance.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n The dedication shown this week\u2014especially by those students spending their breaks in the theatre\u2014is a testament to the spirit of ABIS.
