The assessment focused on key concepts explored throughout the unit, including the <strong data-start=\"225\" data-end=\"263\">characteristics of life (MRS GREN)<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"265\" data-end=\"302\">levels of biological organization<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"304\" data-end=\"319\">cell theory<\/strong>, and the <strong data-start=\"329\" data-end=\"374\">structure and function of cell organelles<\/strong>. Students demonstrated their understanding by applying scientific knowledge to both familiar and unfamiliar situations, comparing <strong data-start=\"505\" data-end=\"531\">plant and animal cells<\/strong>, and explaining how <strong data-start=\"552\" data-end=\"573\">specialized cells<\/strong> are adapted for specific functions. This assessment encouraged students to move beyond memorization by analyzing information and using evidence to support their ideas.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"743\" data-end=\"1515\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">During the second half of the week, students began their new collaborative research project: <strong data-start=\"836\" data-end=\"877\">Impact of Science in Cancer Treatment<\/strong>. Working in groups using digital tools such as <strong data-start=\"925\" data-end=\"934\">Canva<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"939\" data-end=\"956\">Google Slides<\/strong>, students are investigating the question: <strong data-start=\"999\" data-end=\"1045\">\u201cHow Science Transforms Cancer Treatment.\u201d<\/strong> Through this inquiry, students are exploring <strong data-start=\"1091\" data-end=\"1109\">what cancer is<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1111\" data-end=\"1140\">different types of cancer<\/strong>, and how <strong data-start=\"1150\" data-end=\"1207\">scientific discoveries and technological advancements<\/strong> have improved diagnosis and treatment methods.
