The music rooms have been buzzing with energy as students from KG1 through Grade 6 dive into new sounds, instruments, and creative compositions.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"2\">In our sessions this week, we have been <b data-path-to-node=\"2\" data-index-in-node=\"40\">exploring the elements of music<\/b>\u2014focusing on pitch, duration, and dynamics\u2014while fostering strong <b data-path-to-node=\"2\" data-index-in-node=\"137\">ensemble playing<\/b> across Grades 1 through 5.<\/p>\n<hr data-path-to-node=\"3\" \/>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"4\"><b data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Early Years &amp; Lower Primary: Songs and Steps<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"5\"><b data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">KG1: Rhythm and Numbers<\/b> Our youngest musicians are discovering that music and math go hand-in-hand! This week, KG1 has been <b data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"124\">working with numbers<\/b>, using them as a foundation to understand <b data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"187\">rhythm<\/b>. By counting beats and steps, the learners are experiencing how numerical patterns create the &#8220;heartbeat&#8221; of a song through new movement activities.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6\"><b data-path-to-node=\"6\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Grades 1 &amp; 2: Mallets and Melodies<\/b> Things are getting colorful in Grades 1 and 2! We\u2019ve begun our exploration of <b data-path-to-node=\"6\" data-index-in-node=\"113\">Boomwhackers and Xylophones<\/b>.<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"7\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"7,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Focus:<\/b> Developing proper technique to produce a clear, resonant tone.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"7,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Ensemble Playing:<\/b> Students are practicing their first pieces as a group, learning to watch the conductor and listen to their classmates to stay in sync.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr data-path-to-node=\"8\" \/>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"9\"><b data-path-to-node=\"9\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Middle Primary: Expanding the Toolkit<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10\"><b data-path-to-node=\"10\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Grade 3: From Rhythm to Keys<\/b> Grade 3 is taking their rhythmic foundations and applying them to the <b data-path-to-node=\"10\" data-index-in-node=\"99\">piano<\/b>. We are bridging the gap between a rhythmic pulse and the physical layout of the keyboard, allowing students to see how rhythm drives melodic expression.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"11\"><b data-path-to-node=\"11\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Grades 4 &amp; 5: Expanding Our Vocabulary<\/b> Grades 4 and 5 are working hard on <b data-path-to-node=\"11\" data-index-in-node=\"74\">expanding their rhythm vocabulary<\/b>. While both grades are exploring new notations and complex patterns, our <b data-path-to-node=\"11\" data-index-in-node=\"181\">Grade 5 learners are working with differentiated tasks<\/b> tailored to their advancing skills. Both year groups are focusing on precision and clarity within their ensemble performances.<\/p>\n<hr data-path-to-node=\"12\" \/>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"13\"><b data-path-to-node=\"13\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Upper Primary: The Producers&#8217; Studio<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"14\"><b data-path-to-node=\"14\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Grade 6: Songwriting &amp; Digital Innovation<\/b> Our Grade 6 students are deep in the &#8220;lab,&#8221; continuing their <b data-path-to-node=\"14\" data-index-in-node=\"103\">songwriting projects<\/b>. It is inspiring to see them toggle between physical instruments and digital platforms like <b data-path-to-node=\"14\" data-index-in-node=\"216\">GarageBand<\/b> and <b data-path-to-node=\"14\" data-index-in-node=\"231\">Musicca<\/b>.
