On Monday, our Grade 10 students presented their Personal Projects to the school community, culminating in a late afternoon exhibition for parents. I had the opportunity to speak with a number of students about their work and was highly impressed by the range, depth, and genuine interest they brought to this important task. The Personal Project marks the culmination of the IB Middle Years Programme and, importantly, develops the independence, research, and thinking skills that prepare students well for the next stage of their learning as they move into the IBDP in Grade 11.

This week has also been a colourful and exciting one for our Primary students as we celebrated Book Week. Students brought in books to exchange, spent time reading and listening to stories, and enthusiastically took part in our daily “Where’s Wally” challenge. I was fortunate enough to join in during a couple of break times, with students finding me and requesting their stamp. The challenge required them to be risk-takers, approaching staff, identifying who was part of the game, and confidently asking for a stamp. It was a simple activity, but one that brought a great deal of enjoyment and energy to the week.

This morning, Primary students came together for a Book Week assembly, many dressed as their favourite characters. It was wonderful to see the creativity, excitement, and joy that reading continues to bring to our students.

Tomorrow the staff have a Professional Development Day so the school will be closed. School will resume on Sunday 26 April.

On Thursday 30 April, we will host our first Open Day from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. This is an opportunity for families who do not yet have children at ABIS to visit the school, tour our facilities, and meet the Leadership Team. If you have friends or family who may be interested, I would encourage you to invite them to visit us and experience our school community.

Have a wonderful long weekend.

Dominic Robeau

Dear Parents, This week has been full of wonderful moments for students and staff alike.
