I would like to take this opportunity to commend our students for the way in which they approached this important milestone. Across the week, they demonstrated focus, resilience, and a mature attitude towards their learning, all of which are essential qualities as they move towards their final assessments.

Mock examinations play a vital role in our academic programme. They are not simply a rehearsal of exam conditions, although becoming familiar with the format, timing, and expectations is an important part of the experience. More importantly, they provide a valuable opportunity for students to understand their current level of performance and to identify both strengths and areas for development in a meaningful and structured way.

Following the completion of these assessments, our teachers will now engage in analysis of each student’s work. This process allows us to pinpoint where students are performing strongly and where further support may be needed. As a result, teaching in the coming weeks will be carefully adapted to address these areas, ensuring that every student is as well prepared as possible for the final eAssessments.

Equally, this process encourages students to reflect on their own learning. Developing the ability to respond to feedback, recognise areas for improvement, and take ownership of next steps is a key part of success, not only in examinations but in lifelong learning.

Yesterday, we experienced an unexpected IT disruption which required one of the mock examinations to be rescheduled. While this was not ideal, I was impressed by the way our entire school community responded. Students, teachers, and support staff adapted quickly and calmly, ensuring that learning continued with minimal disruption. It was a timely reminder of how reliant we can be on technology in our daily routines, but also of our ability to be flexible and solution-focused when challenges arise.

In many ways, this experience reflects the attributes we aim to develop in our students, particularly being adaptable, resilient, and open-minded. These qualities are just as important as academic success and are essential for navigating both examinations and life beyond school.

Today, Term 3 Progress Reports have been issued. These reports provide you with an update on progress in relation to grades and engagement. Students will now continue to work through their final assessments and teachers will provide a final report in June with comments and grades for each subject. If you wish to discuss the Progress Report in more detail or have any other questions or concerns, please use the sign up sheets sent earlier this week to make appointments with teachers at our Parent Teacher Conferences (PTC) on Wednesday and Thursday.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Warm regards,

Andy Cooper
Head of Secondary

Dear Secondary Families, This week, our Grade 10 students completed their mock examinations in preparation for the upcoming MYP eAssessments.
