A big thank you to our maintenance team, who worked quickly and efficiently to restore the school grounds to their usual high standard in a very short space of time.

A highlight of my week has been spending time in classrooms across KG1, KG2, and Grade 2, where I had the pleasure of seeing inquiry-based learning in action.

In KG1, students listened to the story The Water Princess, about a young girl who walks long distances to collect water for her family. As part of their learning about natural resources and scarcity, students then worked in small groups to carry buckets of water themselves. This simple but powerful activity helped them connect with the story and begin to understand the challenges faced by others.

In KG2, students were developing their understanding of 2D and 3D shapes, along with the associated vocabulary. They had the opportunity to build and construct their own cubes using a variety of materials, applying their knowledge in a hands-on and creative way.

In Grade 2, as part of their Sharing the Planet unit, students have been learning about habitats. I enjoyed spending time with Ms. Stephanie’s class as they worked on their trioramas. Students selected habitats of interest, including grasslands, deserts, oceans, and forests, and began creating detailed models. I look forward to seeing the finished pieces, as well as reading their research projects, which are currently underway.

Student Led Conferences (SLCs)
Next week, on Wednesday and Thursday, we will hold our Student Led Conferences. In an IB school, these conferences are an important opportunity for students to take ownership of their learning. Students share their progress, reflect on their achievements, and discuss their goals with their parents and teachers. It is always a valuable experience and a highlight of the year, as it places the student at the centre of the conversation about their learning.

Looking Ahead – Book Week
We are also looking ahead to Book Week (19th–22nd April), which will include a range of activities to celebrate reading across the Primary School. The week will conclude with Character Day on Tuesday, 22nd April, and we look forward to seeing students bringing their favourite characters to life.

Term 3 Progress Reports
Today, Term 3 Progress Reports have been issued. These include a homeroom teacher comment along with effort grades for specialist subjects. As always, if you have any questions about your child’s learning, please do contact the homeroom or relevant teacher.

Wishing you all a happy and relaxing weekend.

Best regards,
Matthew
Primary Team Lead

Dates Ahead

Wednesday, 15th April (3:30–6:00 pm) & Thursday, 16th April (1:30–3:30 pm): Student Led Conferences

Sunday, 19th – Wednesday, 22nd April: Book Week

Tuesday, 22nd April: Character Day

Dear Primary Families, It has been another busy and engaging week across the Primary School, with plenty of learning taking place both inside and outside the classroom.
