Students have chosen their animals to complete their research about. I will share the students’ chosen animal in a message to you personally on SeeSaw. Now we are going to have a home project completed for this UOI. Students will make a diorama based on the animal they have chosen. Directions are below. Please have your child create as much as they can of this diorama on their own. It is not meant to be perfect, but a reflection of your child’s hard work.

Students were introduced to food chains this week. They will learn about what prey and predator means. They will learn about what a herbivore, carnivore, and omnivore is. They will understand the role of a producer, consumer, and decomposer is. The hope is students will understand the coexistence of animals and humans in our world and how we and animals depend upon these relationships to survive.

In English this week we looked at new vowel teams that say the long /o/ vowel sound. The spellings of these new vowel teams are oe, oa, and ow. You can have students practice this by looking up words or watching phonics videos. We completed writing our Glows and Grows to present at the Student Led Conferences in April. I can’t wait for the students to share these with their families and get feedback from you as well. Students have been learning about pronouns for two weeks and next week I will check for understanding. Please ask your children, what are pronouns? A pronoun replaces a noun. Examples of a pronoun are we, I, you, he, she, they and it.

In Maths we have continued working with time. Students are reviewing o’clock and half past. They are learning about quarter past and quarter to. They must also know how to skip count in 5’s in order to read the clock every five minutes. Students must know how to read an analogue clock as well as a digital clock. They will also understand the difference between AM and PM. We will continue reviewing, adding and subtracting 1’s, 10’s, and 100’s.

IMPORTANT DATES!!!

Mar 19 = Eid Holiday Begins No School

Mar 22-26 = Term Break

Apr 2 = Primary Swimming Gala

Apr 7 = Parent Coffee Morning

Apr 15 = Student Led Conferences

Diorama Guidelines

2026 Diorama Guidelines

What an eventful week in our Unit of Inquiry, Sharing the Planet.
