We have begun unpacking our new unit of inquiry about how \u2018Energy is a constant in our world.\u2019 The students have been busy understanding what energy is and different forms of energy. They\u2019ve had a chance to play with creating their own Roller Coasters and explaining how Energy is transferred. Students have been practicing how to identify coordinates on a plane, translate shapes up, down left or right, reflect shapes over the x-axis and y-axis, as well as rotate shapes 90 degrees and 180 degrees clockwise and counterclockwise.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In Literacy we began exploring Explanatory texts, which are texts that explain why or how a natural phenomenon occurs. Students had a chance to identify the key eight features using example texts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Coming up next week:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Maths<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Measuring and estimating angles<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mental Maths \/ Revision sessions<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Literacy<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Planning and drafting an explanation text<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Book Clubs<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>UOI<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Researching different energy forms<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Presenting about one energy form<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Classifying energy types into potential or kinetic<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This week obviously presented some challenging conversations given the situation of the world, thoughtful reflections for how we can be more supportive, empathetic and understanding towards each other.
