The energy in the music wing has shifted from <i data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"169\">exploration<\/i> to <i data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"184\">creation<\/i>, and it has been wonderful to hear the students\u2019 confidence growing day by day here in Sohar.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6\">Here is a look at what has been happening in the classrooms and practice rooms this week.<\/p>\n<hr data-path-to-node=\"7\" \/>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"8\">Primary Years: The Rhythm of Inquiry<\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"9\">Building on last week\u2019s introduction to <b data-path-to-node=\"9\" data-index-in-node=\"40\">[Insert last week&#8217;s topic, e.g., steady beat \/ instrument families]<\/b>, our PYP musicians have been diving deeper into how sound works.<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"10\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"10,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Early Years &amp; KG:<\/b> We continued our &#8220;Sound Safari.&#8221; After identifying sounds last week, we are now trying to replicate them using percussion instruments. It is loud, messy, and absolutely educational!<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"10,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Grade 1\u20132:<\/b> We are moving from simple clapping to full-body percussion. The students are learning that their bodies are their very first instruments.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10,2,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"10,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Grade 3\u20136:<\/b> The <b data-path-to-node=\"10,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"15\">[Instrument Name, e.g., Ukuleles\/Recorders]<\/b> represent a step up in difficulty! This week, we focused on finger placement and transitioning between chords without losing the tempo.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li><b data-path-to-node=\"11,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Parent Tip:<\/b> Ask your child to teach you the rhythm we learned in class today. Teaching it to you reinforces their own learning!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"16\">\n<hr data-path-to-node=\"17\" \/>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"18\">Student Spotlight<\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"19\"><i data-path-to-node=\"19\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Each week, we highlight a student or group demonstrating the IB Learner Profile in Music.<\/i><\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"20\">This week, a huge shout-out to KG 1 students.\u00a0During independent practice, they showed incredible <b data-path-to-node=\"20\" data-index-in-node=\"112\">Resilience<\/b>\u00a0 and self management during music this week. I<\/p>\n<hr data-path-to-node=\"21\" \/>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"26\">\ud83c\udfbc A Note from the Department<\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"27\">Music is a language, and like any language, fluency comes with practice. We are so proud of the risks the students are taking in expressing themselves.
