Next week, we\u2019ll look more closely at how we connect with different family members, and how those relationships can vary across cultures.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"565\" data-end=\"883\"><strong data-start=\"565\" data-end=\"579\"><em data-start=\"567\" data-end=\"577\">Grade 8s<\/em><\/strong> have been working on the topic of house and home, learning the vocabulary of amenities and equipment. We\u2019ve explored a few Airbnb listings already, and next week we\u2019ll see if they can fully make sense of one on their own, identifying all the conventions that make this specific text type work so well.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"885\" data-end=\"1098\"><strong data-start=\"885\" data-end=\"899\"><em data-start=\"887\" data-end=\"897\">Grade 9s<\/em><\/strong> are away this week on their Oman Week trip, and I hope they\u2019re having an amazing time discovering, learning, and making memories together. We look forward to hearing all about it when they return.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1100\" data-end=\"1456\"><strong data-start=\"1100\" data-end=\"1115\"><em data-start=\"1102\" data-end=\"1113\">Grade 10s<\/em><\/strong> have been busy mastering the past tenses. From pass\u00e9 compos\u00e9 with avoir, to pass\u00e9 compos\u00e9 with \u00eatre and the famous \u201chouse\u201d, students can now talk confidently about completed past events, such as someone\u2019s migration story. Next week, we dive into the imparfait and testimony reading, before they get to write their own for <strong data-start=\"1438\" data-end=\"1453\">Criterion D<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1458\" data-end=\"1734\"><strong data-start=\"1458\" data-end=\"1487\"><em data-start=\"1460\" data-end=\"1485\">Grade 11\u201312 DP students<\/em><\/strong> have also gone deep into grammar mode, working with pass\u00e9 compos\u00e9, imparfait, and pass\u00e9 r\u00e9cent.
