To build a foundational understanding, students have been working in collaborative research groups to become &#8220;experts&#8221; on a specific force.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4\">Each group is responsible for creating an 8-slide presentation that deconstructs their assigned force\u2014ranging from <b data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"115\">Gravity<\/b> and <b data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"127\">Friction<\/b> to <b data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"139\">Electrostatic<\/b> and <b data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"157\">Magnetic<\/b> forces.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"5\"><b data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Mission:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"6\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"6,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Defining the Force:<\/b> Distinguishing between contact and non-contact forces.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"6,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Visualizing Physics:<\/b> Creating diagrams with force arrows (vectors) to show the direction and magnitude of the force in real-world scenarios.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6,2,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"6,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Predicting Impact:<\/b> Analyzing how their force can start or stop motion, and change an object&#8217;s speed, direction, or shape.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6,3,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"6,3,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Critical Thinking:<\/b> Exploring a world without their assigned force\u2014would life be easier, or would the world fall apart?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We will move on to experimenting with different types of forces in the lab next week once the presentations are done.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week, our Grade 7 scientists officially kicked off their new unit on Forces, Energy, and Work.
