ABIS Performing Arts Department<\/em><\/p>\n Last week was an exciting and creative time in the music room as all classes\u2014from our youngest learners in KG to our confident upper primary musicians\u2014continued preparing for our upcoming Winter Music Concert<\/strong>. The school has been buzzing with rhythm, melody, and joyful teamwork as students explore sound, create music, and rehearse their performance pieces.<\/p>\n Our Kindergarten musicians spent the week discovering how everyday objects and classroom instruments can create unique sounds. Students explored loud\/soft<\/strong>, fast\/slow<\/strong>, and high\/low<\/strong> sounds while experimenting with percussion instruments.<\/p>\n \u2728 Highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n Creating simple soundscapes<\/strong> using shakers, drums, rainsticks, and body percussion<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Learning to copy<\/strong>, repeat<\/strong>, and respond<\/strong> to rhythmic patterns<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Practicing keeping a steady beat\u2014an important musical foundation<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Beginning rehearsals for their Winter Concert<\/strong> songs<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Our KG learners are becoming confident sound explorers, using imagination and curiosity to shape their musical ideas.<\/p>\n Grades 1 and 2 deepened their understanding of how sounds can express ideas, feelings, and stories. Students worked collaboratively to design their own soundscapes<\/strong>, representing environments, characters, or scenes connected to their learning units.<\/p>\n \u2728 Highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n Building multi-layered soundscapes using classroom instruments<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Practising rhythms using syllables, gestures, and percussion<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Developing teamwork through group decision-making<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Learning concert pieces and rehearsing confidently<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Students are showing excellent creativity\u2014experimenting, adjusting, and refining their soundscapes with increasing independence.<\/p>\n Our middle primary musicians focused on combining rhythm<\/strong>, pitch<\/strong>, and ensemble skills<\/strong> through singing and instrument practice.<\/p>\n \u2728 Grade 3 Highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n Recorder practice focusing on B\u2013A\u2013G<\/strong> and simple patterns<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Strengthening breath control and articulation<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Rehearsing their concert songs with improved confidence<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n \u2728 Grade 4 Highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n Developing Ukulele skills (strumming patterns, chord changes)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Vocal warm-ups and singing technique<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Teamwork activities to prepare for ensemble performance<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Both classes showed fantastic focus and energy as they prepare for their winter performance pieces.<\/p>\n Upper primary students stepped into a more advanced role this week, preparing their songs with strong musical discipline and expression.<\/p>\n \u2728 Grade 5 Highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n Singing with harmony and dynamic control<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Exploring sound exploration tasks linked to concert themes<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Rehearsing two major concert pieces with maturity and teamwork<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n \u2728 Grade 6 Highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n Finalising performance arrangements for their concert songs<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Practising vocal projection, phrasing, and group coordination<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Some groups experimenting with adding instrumental layers<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Our oldest primary musicians are showing leadership and responsibility\u2014excellent role models for the younger grades.<\/p>\n Every class is working hard, and the music room is alive with joyful sounds of practice and creativity.
