Some groups focused on understanding new vocabulary, while others practiced using details from the text to make inferences and predictions.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"516\" data-end=\"712\">Even if your child doesn\u2019t work directly with me in small groups, these are strategies we encourage all readers to use at school and at home. You can support your child by asking questions like:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"713\" data-end=\"825\">\n<li data-start=\"713\" data-end=\"744\">\n<p data-start=\"715\" data-end=\"744\">\u201cWhat was the story about?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"745\" data-end=\"783\">\n<p data-start=\"747\" data-end=\"783\">\u201cWho was your favorite character?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"784\" data-end=\"825\">\n<p data-start=\"786\" data-end=\"825\">\u201cWhat do you think will happen next?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"827\" data-end=\"1060\">A great way to encourage reading at home is by taking a few minutes to <strong data-start=\"898\" data-end=\"965\">read together the books your child brings home from the library<\/strong>. Sharing that time together helps children develop a love for reading and builds confidence.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1062\" data-end=\"1311\">Also, don\u2019t forget that <strong data-start=\"1086\" data-end=\"1098\">Raz-Kids<\/strong> is a fantastic online resource where students can <strong data-start=\"1149\" data-end=\"1218\">listen to stories, read along, and complete comprehension quizzes<\/strong> to check their understanding.
