From writing travel blogs to describe dream holidays, learning to talk about who we are, debating how schools and communities can support teens, and preparing for the DP Individual Oral, every class has pushed forward, even when tiredness tried to win. Focus wasn’t always easy to keep, but they did it, week after week, and that deserves genuine applause.

Now, the best part: REST. It might look like “nothing’s happening”, but neuroscience says otherwise. When we take time to sleep, move, laugh, and play, our brains get busy behind the scenes, literally strengthening the pathways between synapses so that what we’ve learned sticks for good.
This is why breaks aren’t a luxury; they’re part of the learning process. When we come back, all that knowledge will have travelled through the brain, settled, and made itself at home.
So yes, I will be expecting some yawns on day one, but also sharper minds, ready to tackle new challenges with fresh energy, and hopefully some good stories from the break. I’m hoping to have a few myself and I know my students will ask! Breaks are no luxury for teachers either 🤭

Just a small note as reports go out: struggle is not a sign that something went wrong. Far from it!
It’s what makes learning last. Every moment of confusion, every “I don’t get it yet” is the brain rewiring itself for deeper understanding. So no panic, no worry. Growth takes time, and our students are right on track.

They’ve earned this pause, now it’s time to recharge, reset, and let it all sink in, behind the scenes. I mean… a bit of Duolingo can’t hurt, just to keep French there, somewhere…

À très bientôt, ready for the next adventure.

Warm wishes,
Miss J

Dear Parents, As we wrap up the first half term, I can only smile at how far everyone has come.
