This week in Grade 1, the children continued exploring our unit Who We Are, discovering who they are and what makes them unique. Earlier, we got to know each other by answering questions about ourselves and recording the results using tally marks and bar graphs. Last week, the children compared themselves with a classmate to see how they are similar and different, recording their findings in a Venn Diagram. This was a fun and meaningful way for them to see that we are all unique, yet share many things in common.<\/span><\/p>\n

In reading, we continued our daily guided reading sessions in small groups. During these sessions, the children work on tricky words, CVC word lists, and reading books. It is wonderful to see that the reading happening at home is also reflected in the classroom, and I truly appreciate all your support. The children are enthusiastic readers and enjoy helping each other during these sessions.<\/span><\/p>\n

In mathematics, the children practiced ordering numbers from largest to smallest. Working in pairs, they received five mixed-up numbers and wrote them in the correct order on their whiteboards. This activity helps develop both writing skills and a strong understanding of place value, showing how numbers relate to each other in a hands-on and engaging way.<\/span><\/p>\n
