Through rhythm games, the children practiced <b>starting and stopping together<\/b>, learning to listen and respond as a team.<\/p>\n<p>This week, we also played with <b>dynamics (loud and soft)<\/b> and <b>tempo (fast and slow)<\/b>, using our bodies and instruments to show how music can move and change. It\u2019s been joyful watching our KG learners find their inner beat!<\/p>\n<h3><b>Grade 1 \u2013 Moving to Music and Making Meaning<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Grade 1 students are learning that music is movement, expression, and teamwork.<\/p>\n<p>They explored <b>tempo<\/b> (fast\/slow) and <b>dynamics<\/b> (loud\/soft) while practicing how to <b>start and stop together<\/b> in performance. Using their <b>bodies and creative movements<\/b>, students responded to different musical moods \u2014 sometimes fast like the wind, sometimes slow like a sleepy lullaby.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re beginning to create our <b>own rhythms and movement pieces<\/b>, helping students see that music is a language that comes from both heart and body.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Grade 2 \u2013 Composers and Storytellers<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Our Grade 2 musicians reflected on what it means to perform together as a group \u2014 listening, following, and sharing ideas.<\/p>\n<p>They have been <b>writing music using graphic scores<\/b>, turning pictures into sounds to create expressive soundscapes. Through this process, students learned how music can represent <b>emotions and identity<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>We ended the week with <b>peer reflections<\/b>, where students shared thoughts on each other\u2019s soundscapes \u2014 a beautiful moment of appreciation and creative growth.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Grade 3 \u2013 Reading, Playing, and Performing<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Grade 3 has been focusing on <b>music notation and recorder technique<\/b>. \ud83c\udfbc<\/p>\n<p>Students are learning how to <b>read rhythms and notes<\/b>, maintain good posture, and use proper breathing while playing.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve been working in small groups to <b>peer-assess recorder performances<\/b>, giving kind and constructive feedback. Singing practice continues to strengthen their musical ear, and we\u2019re starting to discuss <b>musical personalities<\/b> \u2014 how different instruments and voices have their own \u201ccharacter.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><b>Grade 4 \u2013 Ukulele Journeys<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Our Grade 4 students are diving into the <b>ukulele<\/b> \u2014 exploring chords, strumming patterns, and <b>ensemble playing<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Performing together<\/b> has been a major focus, as learners practice listening carefully to stay in sync with classmates.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re also developing skills in <b>peer assessment<\/b>, learning to give feedback that is both positive and specific. The classroom is filled with the cheerful sound of strings and growing confidence!<\/p>\n<h3><b>Grades 5 &amp; 6 \u2013 Musicians in the Making<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Upper primary musicians have been working hard on <b>instrument studies focused on technique and ensemble performance<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Whether on keyboards, percussion, or voice, students are refining tone, posture, and precision while <b>performing together<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Peer assessments<\/b> encourage reflection on personal growth and ensemble unity. Singing continues to be a joyful part of each lesson, helping students connect emotionally to music and to one another.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Music Across All Grades<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Across the school, our learners are discovering that music is not just sound \u2014 it\u2019s communication, cooperation, and creativity.
