{"id":322674,"date":"2025-10-02T11:11:30","date_gmt":"2025-10-02T07:11:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/?p=322674"},"modified":"2025-10-02T11:11:30","modified_gmt":"2025-10-02T07:11:30","slug":"our-week-of-shapes-stories-and-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/2025\/10\/02\/our-week-of-shapes-stories-and-community\/","title":{"rendered":"Our Week of Shapes, Stories, and Community"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;color: #000000\">Dear Parents,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;color: #000000\">The Roblox&#8217;s had such a lively and meaningful week together!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/folders\/12s5PNZ1z2IUFiMdfo9Iraj2rL9FgDTrs?usp=sharing\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><strong>WEEK 6 PHOTOS<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Here are some of the highlights:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">-Maths: We focused on 2D shapes, exploring their sides, vertices, and where we can find them in our everyday world. The children had lots of fun working hands-on with shapes. Next week, we\u2019ll shift our attention to 3D shapes to build on this learning.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">-Unit of Inquiry: We dove into our second unit and began thinking about community spaces, what makes a place feel safe, comfortable, and healthy, and what doesn\u2019t. The children were especially impacted by images of unclean, rubbish-filled parks compared to clean, welcoming ones. These conversations really helped them reflect on the spaces around them.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">-Writing &amp; Literacy: We did a lot of writing this week! The students made great use of their dictionaries, and we worked on blends, with each child creating sentences using blends they discovered. Our literacy centres also gave them chances to collaborate and rotate through different activities with partners.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">-Celebration: We had a very special time celebrating Maryam\u2019s 7th birthday, a wonderful moment of joy for the whole class!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Looking ahead to next week, we\u2019re excited to explore:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">-Unit of Inquiry: We will introduce the important idea of <strong>sustainability<\/strong>, a big word that we want the children to start becoming familiar with. Together, we\u2019ll also return to our brainstorming on well-being and what it means for both body and mind. The children will reflect on feelings, moods, learning, and how we treat others, and complete their own \u201cWell-being &amp; Me\u201d sheet.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">-Maths &amp; UOI Integration: We\u2019ll continue 2D shape activities on Seesaw, practice identifying sides, vertices, and curved\/straight lines, and spell the names of shapes. In small groups, the children will also create fun shape robots with pattern blocks, identifying the shapes within their creations.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;color: #000000\">It has been inspiring to see the children grow in curiosity, kindness, and confidence this week.
