Dear Parents,<\/b><\/p>\n
DP students<\/i><\/b> have wrapped up their first unit on Languages and Identity and are now stepping into Health. Next week, we\u2019ll move from the big<\/strong> questions to\u2026 bigorexia<\/strong>. Yes, it\u2019s a real thing, and it will spark some power<\/strong>ful discussions, alongside more practice with <\/span>Paper 2<\/b>, to build on their reading stamina.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Grade 10s<\/i><\/b> worked through a formative task this week, using <\/span>Criterion B i, ii, iii<\/b> to analyse a WHO Mental Health report. The focus was on identifying key problems in society and the factors that influence mental health issues. This was our last big step before their summative assessment coming up on Wednesday the 1st.<\/span><\/p>\n Grade 9s<\/i><\/b> have now moved into <\/span>Criterion B iii<\/b>, making connections between texts and their own lives. We\u2019ve been discussing what travel brings us, how it shapes our identity, and how it can help us see how lucky we are simply to have the opportunity. Their first summative is set for Monday the 29th.<\/span><\/p>\n Grade 8s<\/i><\/b> focused on sentence structures, building confidence before their upcoming summative on Tuesday the 30th. They will be analysing an infographic like the ones they created themselves this week, assessed through <\/span>Criterion B i, ii, iii;<\/b> and let me tell you, some of those were works of art! Actually, no, let me show<\/strong> you (see pictures below, only a small selection, voted in class!). Grade 7s<\/i><\/b> can now recognise the elements of a blog, count confidently up to 100 (with help from our fun game of Unlucky 13), and most importantly, they are learning to <\/span>\u201cread between the lines\u201d<\/b>. These skills will be put to the test in their <\/span>Criterion B<\/b> summative on Sunday the 5th of October.<\/span><\/p>\n It\u2019s been a week full of energy, humour, and steady progress in every class.<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t
\nConventions are clearly understood, and the creativity has been wonderful to see.<\/span><\/p>\n
