Dear Parents,<\/strong><\/p>\n

Grade 10s<\/b><\/span> kicked things off this week with some honest self-reflection, looking at the \u201cmeaningful feedback\u201d from their diagnostic test to <\/span>\u201cidentify strengths and weaknesses\u201d (ATL Self-management \u2013 Reflection)<\/b> and practise <\/span>\u201creceiving and acting on meaningful feedback\u201d (ATL Communication \u2013 Interaction)<\/b>. Later, we shifted gears and explored an infographic about what affects young people\u2019s mental health in Qu\u00e9bec (<\/span>Criterion B i<\/b>), beginning to compare it to their own world. Next week, we\u2019ll move deeper into <\/span>Criterion B ii<\/b>, analysing text conventions and polishing our literacy skills.<\/span><\/p>\n

Grade 9s<\/b><\/span> spent the week grappling with adjectival agreements as part of <\/span>Criterion D ii (grammar)<\/b>\u2026 ah, grammar, their absolute favourite thing in the world (said no teenager ever!). The silver lining is that they powered through it with determination, and next week we\u2019ll give them a welcome change of pace: reading practice under <\/span>Criterion B<\/b>, putting all that new grammar and vocabulary to work in real texts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Grade 8s<\/b><\/span> kept their spark alive, moving fast through text conventions and showing brilliant collaborative spirit. They were able to <\/span>\u201cbuild consensus\u201d<\/b> and read with both curiosity and a critical eye (<\/span>Criterion B i\/ii<\/b> and <\/span>ATL Communication – Language<\/b>). The energy in the room is contagious and they have really found their stride.<\/span><\/p>\n

Grade 7s<\/b><\/span> are still finding their feet when it comes to feeling they belong, which is completely normal this early on. To help, we used the <\/span>Visible Thinking Routine \u201cExplore, Connect, Identify, Belong\u201d<\/b> to reflect on who we feel we are and share with our peers. It is a brave first step towards building a community where everyone feels safe to speak up. Our hangman also helped! Next week, we will link this to personal and professional blog reading and build our vocabulary as we go.<\/span><\/p>\n

DP students<\/b><\/span> dove into the structure behind Paper 1, figuring out what makes a strong written piece. The focus was on <\/span>Communication – Language: \u201cstructure information in summaries, essays and reports\u201d<\/b> which is not the flashiest skill, but a powerful one once mastered!<\/span><\/p>\n

It has been a week of courage, curiosity, and just the right amount of chaos, exactly how language learning should be.<\/span><\/p>\n
