They are beginning to see how different strands of mathematics connect and build toward deeper understanding.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"350\" data-end=\"353\" \/>\n<p data-start=\"355\" data-end=\"590\"><strong data-start=\"355\" data-end=\"387\">This Week in Our Learning<\/strong><br data-start=\"387\" data-end=\"390\" \/>Students wrapped up their work on the <strong data-start=\"428\" data-end=\"449\">laws of exponents<\/strong> and moved into exploring the <strong data-start=\"479\" data-end=\"513\">straight line and its equation<\/strong>\u2014a fundamental concept that forms the basis for much of higher mathematics.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"592\" data-end=\"733\">For our <strong data-start=\"600\" data-end=\"618\">AI HL students<\/strong>, we also completed the important topic of <strong data-start=\"661\" data-end=\"682\">matrix operations<\/strong>, including both the sum and product of matrices.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"735\" data-end=\"738\" \/>\n<p data-start=\"740\" data-end=\"981\"><strong data-start=\"740\" data-end=\"764\">Student Spotlight<\/strong><br data-start=\"764\" data-end=\"767\" \/>One of the highlights this week was the way students <strong data-start=\"820\" data-end=\"858\">took initiative in problem solving<\/strong>. Their independence and willingness to tackle challenges head-on showed a strong sense of ownership over their learning.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"983\" data-end=\"986\" \/>\n<p data-start=\"988\" data-end=\"1312\"><strong data-start=\"988\" data-end=\"1008\">Looking Ahead<\/strong><br data-start=\"1008\" data-end=\"1011\" \/>Next week, students will continue solving problems involving the <strong data-start=\"1076\" data-end=\"1093\">straight line<\/strong> and will begin investigating <strong data-start=\"1123\" data-end=\"1143\">linear modelling<\/strong>, seeing how mathematics describes patterns in the real world.
