{"id":321399,"date":"2025-09-04T14:59:53","date_gmt":"2025-09-04T10:59:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/?p=321399"},"modified":"2025-09-04T12:05:54","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T08:05:54","slug":"321399","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/2025\/09\/04\/321399\/","title":{"rendered":"French Connections: Health, Travel, Identity (Week 3 \/ Semaine 3)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Dear Parents,<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>G10<\/strong> wrapped up their diagnostic and jumped straight into the big question, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">what is health?<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> We teased apart empathy, sympathy, and compassion, and connected these to the <\/span><b>Social and Self-management ATL skills<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> like &#8220;practising empathy\u201d and \u201cpositive self-talk\u201d. The class was thoughtful and engaged, and next we\u2019ll be looking at what factors can hurt mental health, building on what we\u2019ve already started.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>G9<\/strong> set off on a grammar and vocabulary journey with <\/span><b>Criterion D i &amp; ii<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, adding colour with <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">BANGS adjectives<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Their curiosity and energy made it a joy to teach. Next week we hit the fun challenge of packing the suitcase, deciding together what should go in and what absolutely shouldn\u2019t.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>G8<\/strong> became infographic experts, analysing every <strong>convention<\/strong> with an eye for detail and working through <\/span><b>Criterion B ii<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. It was challenging but crucial, and they can now confidently explain what hobbies are most popular for their age group. Next step, a playful debate: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">to do or to play, that is the question!<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>G7<\/strong> tied grammar to our unit theme of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Identity<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, using <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">venir<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and prepositions to talk about where we come from. More importantly, they linked this to being <\/span><b>caring and open-minded<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, reminding us that collaboration across gender and origin makes us stronger. A thoughtful start to the year\u2026<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>DP<\/strong> went deep into <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Languages and Identity<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, raising <\/span><b>TOK-style questions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> such as: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If someone is born deaf, in what language do they think? Do the languages we speak shape our identity and the way we see the world, and to what extent?<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Next week, they\u2019ll channel these reflections into a <strong>Paper 1<\/strong> written task.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It was also wonderful seeing so many of you at school this week. Thank you for making the time to meet me, share your questions, and help build this community together.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It\u2019s been a rich, exciting week.
