Through this story, we explored how artists use imagination and color to express how they see the world. We learned that just like Eric Carle, artists don\u2019t have to stick to real-life colors\u2014blue horses, purple foxes, and pink elephants are all possible in the world of art!<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"526\" data-end=\"600\">\ud83c\udfa8 <strong data-start=\"529\" data-end=\"600\">Main Activity: Painting Our Favorite Animals in Our Favorite Colors<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"602\" data-end=\"624\">We asked the children:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"625\" data-end=\"691\">\n<li data-start=\"625\" data-end=\"658\">\n<p data-start=\"627\" data-end=\"658\">\u201cWhat is your favorite animal?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"659\" data-end=\"691\">\n<p data-start=\"661\" data-end=\"691\">\u201cWhat is your favorite color?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"693\" data-end=\"849\">Then we said:<br data-start=\"706\" data-end=\"709\" \/><strong data-start=\"709\" data-end=\"849\">\u201cToday you are going to be an artist! Your animal doesn\u2019t have to be its real color. You can use your imagination\u2014just like Eric Carle!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"851\" data-end=\"956\">Students were encouraged to take ownership of their artwork and think creatively. They had the choice to:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"957\" data-end=\"1047\">\n<li data-start=\"957\" data-end=\"1005\">\n<p data-start=\"959\" data-end=\"1005\">Draw their animal first, then paint<br data-start=\"994\" data-end=\"997\" \/><strong data-start=\"997\" data-end=\"1003\">or<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1006\" data-end=\"1047\">\n<p data-start=\"1008\" data-end=\"1047\">Paint first and add details afterward<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1049\" data-end=\"1242\">We celebrated that there\u2019s no one right way\u2014just different ways of expressing ideas. The result?
