Our KG1, KG2, Grade 1, and Grade 2 students demonstrated real risk-taking qualities as they performed confidently in front of a packed Mazoon Hall. They did a fantastic job! I’d like to congratulate all of the performers and offer a special thanks to our music teacher, Mr. Mino, for his hard work in preparing the students. Getting these age groups ready for a performance is a real challenge, and Mr. Mino deserves huge credit for bringing them together so successfully.

Grade 3 Mini-Market
Over three days this week, our Grade 3 students ran their Mini-Market, selling goods or offering services as the culminating activity for their unit of inquiry. It was inspiring to see their entrepreneurial skills in action as they applied their learning in a real-world business setting. Congratulations to Ms. Sarah, Ms. Roshell, and the entire Grade 3 team for making this happen—it created a real buzz of excitement across the school (especially among some hungry teachers!).

Summer Book Fair
Our Summer Book Fair concluded today, and we hope it gave your family a great opportunity to stock up on reading material for the upcoming holidays. DC Books brought a fantastic collection, and it was lovely to see students’ smiling faces as they picked out books of their own. Our aim is always to promote reading and provide access to high-quality literature for the ABIS community. An added bonus: a percentage of sales goes back to the school to help invest in our library. Thank you for your support of this event.

KG1 Superhero Day
I cannot write this week’s message without celebrating and acknowledging the Superhero Day held in KG1 on Wednesday. The class came to school dressed in a variety of superhero outfits, and their learning space was full of energy as they engaged in various fun activities. I was lucky enough to be there when they shared a beautiful story by Katherine Otoshi, titled One. The message in the story was about the importance of being an upstander—knowing how to stand up for oneself and for others. The class followed the story intently and showed real understanding as they suggested ways they could stand up for themselves, giving examples such as saying no, telling someone to stop, or going to find a teacher for help. To see our youngest learners engaging with a text in this way and applying the message to their own lives was fantastic. Thank you to Ms. Kristina and the whole KG1 team for making this day happen—and thank you to the parents who sent their children in dressed for the special day!

Wishing you a restful and enjoyable weekend.

Best regards,
Matthew
Primary Team Lead

Reminders

Thursday, 5th June: Eid holiday begins – no school (to be confirmed)

Thursday, 12th June: Grade 3–6 Summer Concert (12:00–1:00 pm)

Wednesday, 18th June: Semester 2 Reports issued – Last day of school

Dear Primary Families, Summer ConcertThis afternoon, we ended the week with a wonderful concert by our youngest learners.
