As part of our Grade 8 unit on energy sources, students have delved into the environmental and social impacts of hydroelectric production and wind energy. This project not only enhances their research skills but also fosters collaboration and communication.<\/p>\n

Hydroelectric power harnesses energy from flowing water, providing a renewable energy source. However, it can disrupt aquatic ecosystems and displace local communities. Conversely, wind energy uses turbines to convert wind into electricity, offering a cleaner alternative with minimal environmental impact. Yet, it can pose challenges such as noise pollution and effects on bird migration.<\/p>\n

Students will present their findings through recorded news bulletins, sharing insights on both energy sources’ benefits and drawbacks. This engaging project encourages critical thinking about sustainable energy solutions and their implications for our planet.
