--smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 225\/300;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As the G10 science <span class=\"diff-highlight\">class<\/span> in the MYP program <span class=\"diff-highlight\">gets<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">ready<\/span> for their upcoming e-assessment, they have been exploring exothermic and endothermic reactions in the lab. <span class=\"diff-highlight\">The<\/span> highlight\u00a0of their experiments was the oxidation of <span class=\"diff-highlight\">glycerin<\/span> by potassium permanganate, <span class=\"diff-highlight\">an<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">extremely<\/span> exothermic <span class=\"diff-highlight\">reaction<\/span> that had to be conducted outside<span class=\"diff-highlight\">,<\/span> due to <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> heat and fire <span class=\"diff-highlight\">produced<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">from<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">resulting<\/span> reaction<span class=\"diff-highlight\">.<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">This<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">was<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">an<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">obvious<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">example<\/span> of exothermic chemistry, <span class=\"diff-highlight\">and<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">with<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">all<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">of<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> precautions <span class=\"diff-highlight\">in<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">place<\/span><span class=\"diff-highlight\">,<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">students<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">were<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">able<\/span> to <span class=\"diff-highlight\">see<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">reaction<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">take<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">place<\/span><span class=\"diff-highlight\">.<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">These<\/span> experiments <span class=\"diff-highlight\">allowed<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">students<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">first<\/span><span class=\"diff-highlight\">&#8211;<\/span><span class=\"diff-highlight\">hand<\/span> experience with <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> types of chemical reactions, <span class=\"diff-highlight\">which<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">enhanced<\/span> their <span class=\"diff-highlight\">learning<\/span> of chemical energetics and reaction types<span class=\"diff-highlight\">,<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">specifically<\/span> in preparation for their <span class=\"diff-highlight\">e<\/span><span class=\"diff-highlight\">&#8211;<\/span>assessment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2025\/03\/IMG_0372-scaled.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-317171 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2025\/03\/IMG_0372-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px;
