For their Math Criterion D summative project, Grade 7 students are using their learning of mathematics in a creative way. The students were given a real-world problem of designing a playground area for a community. They are required to make a functional and creative playground where different sections of the playground are defined geometrically as a rectangle, square, triangle, circle, or trapezium and enable the students to work on area, perimeter, and circumference of the various sections.<\/p>\n

To present their work, students can use whatever format they would like \u2014 be it scale drawings, 3D models, digital presentations, written reports, or video presentations. By working on this project, students are able to understand various geometric concepts as well as integrate them with the real world. The final products promise to be as innovative as they are mathematically sound!<\/p>\n
