Our exploration of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Gingerbread Man<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> brought the unit&#8217;s central idea to life as the children engaged their senses and sharpened their thinking and inquiry skills.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Here\u2019s what we accomplished:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Baking gingerbread:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> The class rolled up their sleeves to bake delicious gingerbread. Together, we observed the transformation of ingredients into dough and the magical changes that occurred in the oven. The smells and tastes were a sensory delight!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Story reflection:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Using their critical thinking skills, the children considered why the Gingerbread Man didn\u2019t want to cross the river, leading to insightful conversations about safety and problem-solving.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Retelling the story:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> We had so much fun bringing the story to life! Ms. Maria baked a Gingerbread Man, and the students had the chance to role-play, each taking a turn to ask the Gingerbread Man to stop so they could eat him. In the end, Ms. Fatma helped the Gingerbread Man cross the river\u2014only to eat him herself!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This week was a perfect blend of hands-on activities and thoughtful reflection, helping the children understand how their senses support exploration and discovery.
