Dear Primary Families,<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the aspects of my role that I most enjoy is being fortunate enough to see and be involved in so many different areas of the school. This week has been a great example of the range and variety that fill my days.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sunday<\/b>
\n<\/b>On Sunday, I visited our Grade 6 class and enjoyed observing as Mr. Cromwell led a tuning-in activity. The students began an inquiry into decimals and how they are used in real-life situations. It was wonderful to see the students having fun while watching Olympic recordings that showed the importance of tenths, hundredths, and thousandths. They then held their own long jump competition in the classroom, allowing for data to be collected, compared, ordered, and analysed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Monday<\/b>
\n<\/b>On Monday afternoon, I met with Mr. Dominic and a team of teachers to discuss how we can strengthen our recycling practices throughout the school. Ms. Amy, Ms. Sri, and Ms. Perin shared information about initiatives in both the primary and secondary schools, and we spoke about ways to develop and build awareness around reducing, reusing, and recycling.<\/span><\/p>\n

Please note that we have a recycling centre on campus, and parents are welcome to bring in recyclable materials (paper, plastic, and metal) from home, which the recycling company will then collect.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tuesday<\/b>
\n<\/b>On Tuesday, I was lucky enough to join the Grade 5 trip to Ms. Eiman\u2019s home village of Fizah. In Fizah, we met her father, the Sheikh, and learned about his important role in the community. We also visited Fizah Fort and a wadi, where the students took part in an impromptu litter clean-up to enhance the area.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday<\/b>
\n<\/b>I was in Ms. Leah\u2019s Grade 2 class on Wednesday, observing their literacy session, where they were learning about letter sounds and digraphs. It was great to see how they could identify the sounds within words and were developing their knowledge of the difference between blends and digraphs.<\/span><\/p>\n

I also had lunch duty with Grade 2, which I really enjoyed. I have a small group of students who (attempt to) play badminton with me!<\/span><\/p>\n

Thursday<\/b>
\n<\/b>Although today was a no-student day, teachers have been working on our Program Development Plan. This is part of our preparatory work for the upcoming IB Evaluation visit, scheduled for January 2026. The focus of the day was strategies for teaching EAL students.<\/span><\/p>\n

Looking Ahead<\/b>
\n<\/b>Tomorrow we will host a swim meet at school. We are expecting a big turnout and wish the very best of luck to our competing students!<\/span><\/p>\n
