These being:…I think… I notice…I wish… The approaches to learning I still need to develop are…Some of the learner profile qualities that I still need to develop are…This year I will… and next year I want to…

In literacy (reading, writing, listening and speaking), students have been finalising their graphic novels, their Narrative on their book study and their narrated presentation on climate change and Migration. As part of our transition programme preparing the students for grade 7, all three of these assessments have been scheduled with a due date and time of 1pm on the 24th of May. Along with this, we have also worked with students to scaffold their practise and to have them think critically about how to make best use of their time, to schedule their time and how to best manage their time to complete these three assessments within the timeframe and to their highest standard. Please do talk with them about this, all assignments are on google classroom for your convenience.

As part of their Unit of Inquiry learning, and in culmination of their learning about flight – and as you will see from this week’s feature image, students were also lucky enough to visit the Flight Academy at Sohar Airport. Many thanks to Javier Redondo and the team for hosting us. It was a wonderful experience. Again, please see the pictures folder for this week for some fantastic pictures.

HOME LEARNING

The maintenance of home learning reading/ writing and mathematics is important in consolidating fundamental skills. Please continue with this as a routine. There will be less homework next week to allow for students to focus on studying for their final exams that are coming up next week.

Please do have a look at your child’s Google Classroom because this is where the bulk of their evidence for learning is posted. This is a great conversation starter and gives a great window into how they are doing as responsible, independent agentive learners.

At this time of year and as we draw nearer to important year end assessments it is especially important to remain up to date with materials, assignments, and assessments posted onto Google Classroom. This week students were asked to complete the following for home learning:

School Events – Important Dates

Over the next two weeks, students will participate in end of year assessments.
