Dear Parents and Students,<\/span><\/p>\n

Good afternoon and Happy Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another busy week.<\/span><\/p>\n

This week in <\/span>numeracy<\/b> students have continued to consolidate their understanding of working with multi step algebraic equations and the order of operations (PEMDAS), as they prepare for their assessment next week.\u00a0 Students also completed their last timed Basic facts speed and accuracy challenge with very positive results. Please do talk with your children about how their first term results compare to their latest Semester 2 results.<\/span><\/p>\n

In <\/span>literacy (reading, writing, listening and speaking)<\/b>, students have continued working on their graphic novels and have explored how themes can change the emotion or mood of characters in a story.\u00a0 During <\/span>Unit of Inquiry<\/b>, students have worked to deepen their inquiry into migration and climate change by connecting the two through research and as the theme or problem that needs a resolution in their next graphic novel. They have also continued to work on developing their slide presentation to show what they know about the concepts of migration and climate change.<\/span><\/p>\n

HOME LEARNING<\/b><\/p>\n

The maintenance of home learning reading\/ writing and mathematics is important in consolidating fundamental skills. Please continue with this as a routine.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Please<\/b> do have a <\/span>look at your child\u2019s Google Classroom<\/b> because this is where the bulk of their <\/span>evidence for learning<\/b> is posted. This is a great conversation starter and gives a great window into how they are doing as responsible, independent agentive learners.<\/span><\/p>\n

At this time of year and as we draw nearer to important year end assessments it is especially important to remain up to date with materials, assignments, and assessments posted onto Google Classroom. This week students were asked to complete the following for home learning:<\/span><\/p>\n
