While many students are able to compute large numbers using pencil, paper and good ol&#8217; fashioned arithmetic, mental strategies prove to be a much more difficult challenge. Solving number problems mentally develops number sense and ultimately to deeper\u00a0mathematical understanding.<\/p>\n<p>We used a range of games that required quick retrieval of basic facts that will students\u00a0in both their mental and written fluency.
