I hope these few words find you well.\u00a0 It is hard to believe but yes another busy week has come and gone.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Grade 6 Week 8 in pictures: 2023 2024\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

School Photos<\/b><\/p>\n

These have now been rescheduled. Please \u2018Keep an eye out\u2019 for more details on this in the near future. In the meantime, if your child has grown out of their school uniform or needs another shirt for example, please see Ms Juhaina in our office to place your order.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Homework<\/b><\/p>\n

Thank you for checking and signing your children’s homework because this shows the importance of completing activities at home to consolidate learning. This also gives you an insight into your children’s lives as students.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Reading and writing<\/b><\/p>\n

During this week learners have continued to work on developing reading and writing skills. This week, after working on reading books and doing a character study at the same time as students transferring their learning into their own writing, students have been working on publishing their work. We look forward to sharing this work soon.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mathematics<\/b><\/p>\n

This week in Math, students \u2018levelled up\u2019 converting ratios and tables to values and then taking values to create double number lines and converting this into ordered pairs to graph these functions. There is some great learning happening in class. Students will no doubt be happy to share their progress with you if you ask. You can see their work in their math books or a selection of this online in their seesaw posts. Please do talk with them about this.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Integrated UOI<\/b><\/p>\n

This week we have begun our unit of inquiry into How We Organise Ourselves. This is the G6 Exhibition unit. After this week we will keep this going in the background as we refocus on another unit for some time however students have made a very good start to their exhibition unit. This week students identified their passions, they also brainstormed issues that could be related to their interests or problems related to their passions and then worked to relate these to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Students then discussed how they could align each student’s interests somehow to create Exhibition unit groups or teams. This was a great discussion where students critically thought about the construction of working groups as well as the benefits and pitfalls of working with your friends. As part of this unit, students will be keeping an Exhibition Journal in which they record all of their thoughts, feelings, notes, questions and so on about their Exhibition unit. This will be how they document their learning journey and is a great way to develop ATL skills in an authentic context. Please talk with your children about this exciting project.<\/span><\/p>\n
