{"id":293352,"date":"2023-09-14T15:31:41","date_gmt":"2023-09-14T11:31:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/?p=293352"},"modified":"2023-09-14T15:39:02","modified_gmt":"2023-09-14T11:39:02","slug":"where-music-and-mathematics-intersect","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/2023\/09\/14\/where-music-and-mathematics-intersect\/","title":{"rendered":"Where Music and Mathematics intersect"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For AOI 3 (Absolute Music), the Grade 12 DP Music students are learning about experimental and avant garde composition techniques popularized during the 20th century.\u00a0 Instead of focusing on the traditional ideas of tonality and melody, many composers began to look outside of the expected conventions of music writing and turned to Mathematics.\u00a0 Arnold Schoenberg developed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=OEwMPl7lsrg\">12 Tone system<\/a> of composition that creates musical matrices instead of tonal melodic lines.\u00a0 Iannis Xenakis used <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtubeeducation.com\/watch?v=-i_hok9TQjU\">Cube Theory<\/a> to compose different patterns and symmetries.
