In every broadcast, The Grade 8 Science\/Math class has decided to celebrate a classmate(s) who exemplifies an IB learner profile attribute.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The world of science is about investigation, observation, and wondrous discovery. It\u2019s exactly these kinds of learning experiences our modern students crave.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As teachers, we can ensure science remains an exciting and often magical subject for our learners. There\u2019s no better way to do this than with simple but <em><strong>highly creative inquiry-based learning science activities<\/strong><\/em> that challenge and inspire enriching learning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This week, we celebrate <em><strong>Julia Alvarez<\/strong><\/em>. She was <em><strong>curious<\/strong><\/em> to find out whether matter can change\u00a0 directly from the solid to gaseous state without going through the liquid state. Our unit of inquiry is based on how we can change matter to make it more useful.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She led the experiment of heating Iodine crystals and the class observed as it <em><strong>sublimed<\/strong> <\/em>and formed a purple colored dense vapor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">#COOLFACT# Solid carbon (IV) oxide is used by ice cream vendors to keep the ice cold because it sublimes!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Everyone&#8217;s potential rises when we choose to celebrate each other&#8217;s success!
