In groups, they unpacked the central idea word by word. For each word, they identified the dictionary meaning, rewrote the meaning in their words, added graphic illustrations and used them in sentences of their own. Students have also worked on putting together a creative representation of the concept of creativity and have produced some beautiful results. This week, we tuned into measurements and started \u2018finding out\u2019 about metric units of length, weight and capacity. They reviewed their understanding of standard vs non-standard units &amp; imperial vs metric systems. Students learnt a funny acronym <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2018King Henry Died By Drinking Chocolate Milk\u2019<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to remember the metric units in order &#8211; for example <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">kilogram, hectogram, decagram, gram, decigram, centigram &amp; milligram<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Next week, students will continue to transfer this knowledge to converting between the metric units.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Please look for a sample of this in students\u2019 Google Drive folders.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How you can help at home: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Please talk about measurement with your children at home. This includes, filling up the car, baking, how hot it is outside, travel times, weights and distances and so on. This adds authentic context and a reason for learning about measurement.
