Taking the classic film, &#8220;An American in Paris&#8221; as a jumping off point, the students looked at how the audience&#8217;s perspective of French music works or distracts from the concept itself. For their summative, the students were asked to compose a short piece of music in an assigned genre that tried to express a particular emotion. How does <em>anxiety<\/em> sound in ballet music? Love in Samba?\u00a0 What about happiness in the style of Country\/Western?
