Please do check the awesome photos from this week by clicking this <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/folders\/1WD8rbFEfDppVJh6_raC7HxLlrWwHSTPu?usp=share_link\">link. <\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Welcome to our review of week 22. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Notices &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Swimming for girls on Sunday &amp; boys on Tuesday during PE session: Please remember to bring the swimming kit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Upcoming events:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">4th Mar &#8211; School reopens<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">15th\/16th March &#8211; Student Led Conferences coming up<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Homework<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> : <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This week for homework, we continued with our basic facts, reading, codebreaking and geography quiz as well as our spelling work.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Reading, Writing and Inquiry (G6 Exhibition groups Paste below): <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This week, we began our new unit on \u2018Climate change\u2019 by watching selected timelapse videos on Google Earth that show the impacts of global warming and decreasing rainfall. The students did a \u2018Then.. Now\u2019 flow diagram explaining climate change in these videos. They learnt the difference between weather and climate by looking at anchor charts and watching videos. As a whole class activity, students unpacked the central idea \u2018Human actions impact climate change\u2019 on a Padlet page (Please see the screenshot below).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students completed a survey on \u2018migration\u2019 by filling out a Google Form in which they expressed their understanding of push &amp; pull factors, migration patterns and the impacts of migration.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students also completed compiling Google Slides together with the biography of a famous immigrant they had chosen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2023\/02\/G6-Climate-Change-Padlet.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-284791 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2023\/02\/G6-Climate-Change-Padlet.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"538\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2023\/02\/G6-Climate-Change-Padlet-980x515.png 980w, https:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2023\/02\/G6-Climate-Change-Padlet-480x252.png 480w\" data-sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1024px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1024\/538;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>How you can help at home: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you are able to discuss with your children at home sharing stories about how climate is changing or watch news or documentaries about climate change together (such as David Attenborough\u2019s Blue Planet, Climate Change &#8211; Britain Under Threat, The Future of our Frozen World or Zac Efron\u2019s Down to Earth), it would help students develop curiosity and make connections with the real world issues.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Maths: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students continued to complete maths maintenance based on addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. They also learnt to identify and mark coordinates on a grid. Students completed a timed basic facts assessment. It was great to see the progress they have made. We look forward to sharing the results of this during Student Led Conferences (SLC\u2019s) coming up in March. Please see below for a picture of some of our math maintenance questions from this week.
