I suspect that there may be students in other grades that skate a thin line between academic honesty and plagiarism.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s set the record straight. Assignments and summative tasks are not about &#8220;copy-paste&#8221; stuff from the internet. Academic honesty and integrity are strong principles that are highly valued in schools and academia. Running foul of this could lead to not getting a grade for your work but more seriously, not being able to complete your high school diploma &#8211; or being expelled in some schools. So what is it and what are we supposed to do?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2023\/02\/AcademicHonestyWhatisexpectedofyou.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-284049 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2023\/02\/AcademicHonestyWhatisexpectedofyou-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/225;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Very simply, produce your own work and apply your own mind to problems. Where you use wok done by other people, you need to <em>acknowledge it (citations)\u00a0 and you should paraphrase (write in your own words)\u00a0 what that content was about. If you produce exactly what was said then it needs to be in &#8220;&#8230;&#8221; (quotation marks\u00a0 and cited).<\/em> Always submit your own reflections on what is presented &#8211; teachers are interested in what you have to say &#8211; not everyone else!<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, check your sources. Not everything on the internet is correct. There is a lot of misinformation out there!\u00a0 Do the right thing.
