Welcome to Grade 8.<\/p>\n

In English we are studying advertisements.\u00a0 Students have investigated the conventions (common features) of print and filmed adverts and are in the process of creating their own.\u00a0 Our units for the year are:\u00a0 A literary unit on fitting it based on ‘The Outsiders’ by S E Hinton; a language unit on newspapers; and a second literary unit about how we react to adversity based on ‘Red Scarf Girl’ by Ji-Li Jiang.<\/p>\n

In Individuals and Societies we are studying natural hazards.\u00a0 At present the students are practicing note taking and keeping their notebooks well ordered.\u00a0 The summative assessment will be to create a newscast about a natural disaster and the response to it.\u00a0 Later in the year student will be studying the following units: How we are governed; population growth and distribution; and revolutions.\u00a0 If there is time, we will have a short investigation into World War 1.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
