Next week we begin our Exhibition unit in earnest. For this, students&#8217; homework will be based around their inquiry however will continue to include Mathematics basic facts, Reading and Spelling. Please also remember to sign your child\u2019s homework each week. Thank you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Reading, Writing and Inquiry<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Central Idea:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Human actions impact climates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lines of Inquiry:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For this we will inquire into the following;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Human and natural causes of climate change\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Effect of climate change on animals\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Effect of climate change on biomes\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For our UOI, students have been watching footage about our planet and how human action impacts climates. Students have also been putting together a list of other resources that inform this subject. For this please see the link below:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1fmmZXpqBVTzmOfs4xhNVlKoNOxEH2JCxRRlPmnrEaAw\/edit\"><b>G6 E-resources for Sharing the Planet\u00a0<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For writing, we have also been working on describing \u2018small moments\u2019 and extending our writing by including figurative language devices such as metaphor, simile, consonance, alliteration, personification and more. Please see the link here to provide more detail about figurative language: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/examples.yourdictionary.com\/examples-of-figurative-language.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">https:\/\/examples.yourdictionary.com\/examples-of-figurative-language.html<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We also continue to extend ourselves in our writing by trying to use words instead of \u2018Said\u2019 in our written dialogue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/presentation\/d\/1pJ6fLB5Q71KZEL3s3Zc6MBgn2Rt0nTVTEpNkyZy3wh0\/edit#slide=id.g118f683bfb7_0_25\"><b>Instead of Said<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Mathematics<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For mathematics this week students worked to grow their mathematical understanding of geometry. This included learning about; 3D nets and polyhedra. Students were also asked to share their learning about tessellations by creating their own Mathematical Art piece to show this. For this students watched the video below and completed a simple tessellation. Students have now learnt about rotation, Translation, Tessellation and reflection.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Ca5J_moee7U\"><b>How to make a Tessellation &#8211; the easy way<\/b><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For our Grade 6 schedule please see the link here: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1nPfQ6fm2MXm5VSOAWhnDkFI-WYXkW0Nh9W3ZAFFDFp4\/edit\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Grade 6 Ramadan schedule<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Notices\/ Worth Repeating<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Regarding Covid 19:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As you will have seen in the news, regarding health and safety protocols around Covid 19, Oman is making moves towards normalcy.
