In English students finished their poetry anthologies. \u00a0They made sure that they had written a different types of poems, such as haikus, acrostics and those with an AA BB rhyming scheme. \u00a0In addition they used different poetic devices such as personification, simile and metaphor. \u00a0Students then chose one poem which they analyzed and presented to the remainder of the class. \u00a0We have just started our new unit entitled \u2018Is Life Fair?\u2019 In this unit we will read the novel \u2018Follow the Rabbit Proof Fence\u2019 fence and investigate how the Aboriginals of Australia have been treated by the British settlers.<\/p>\n

In Individuals and Societies we have continued with our environments unit. \u00a0We have investigated the effects that humans have had in different environments, looking at climate change and sustainability. \u00a0Students have just started their final summative assessment which is to investigate a specific biome area and create a brochure. \u00a0This will include location, climate, flora, fauna, food webs, the effects of human activities on the area and possible solutions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
