The students looked at how we use water in everyday life and also ways that we can save and conserve it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We listened to a story called \u2018The Water Princess\u2019. Many of the students were visibly moved by the story of Gie Gie who had to walk for miles every day to collect water that wasn\u2019t even clean. It provoked discussions about what that would feel like, why she didn\u2019t have access to clean water and if there is anything we can we do about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have also been learning about fractions and finding a fraction of an amount. The students are realizing how important their other maths knowledge and skills are, especially multiplication and division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our current unit of work will eventually link to persuasive writing. The students practised this type of writing by trying to convince me that they deserved an early finish.
